What is Version 31? Its not just a website or a business. It’s an idea encompassing creativity and the methods from which they are derived from. At least I would like to think so. Version 31 wasn't always known as such. It was born as my personal website, version 1.0. It underwent many reiterations until I just decided to stop naming the versions and settle on a URL address. Version 31 was born. Although it may appear at times that this website is run by a middle grade child, I assure you I am much older and wiser... at times. About me?
My name is Andrew Williams and I am an artist and philosopher ... sometimes stuntman, but until I heal, an artist. My profession is graphic design. I have worked in the field of graphic design for almost a decade, a few years short but I’m pretty young by standard so I’m shooting for the decade. I was born in Lithuania and my family immigrated to the United States in the early 90's. I attended the University of Colorado majoring in Multimedia and Fine Arts. I realize now that the multimedia program was for graphic designers with A.D.D. Unlike the business school where someone strives to be an accountant for a law firm, we had no end goal. We played and prodded anything that moved or shined. It was great. Point being we are multitalented at everything. I can drink coffee while I edit video on the freeway at 60 mph... But that’s illegal now...
I began freelancing in college doing odd end jobs. Consulting, website design, promotional materials, t-shirts... you name it. I got my break right after college with 7News. They hired me on as a graphic designer for the morning shows creating on air content. No, I’m not the guy that makes the ticker! That’s a computer; don’t blame me for it moving too fast! Anyways... I have had some nice opportunities designing materials for just about everything; large screens, studios, trucks, folders, business cards.... my stuff is seen by some 4 million people daily. It’s pretty neat to think about it. But I try not to let it bother me.
So Version 31 is simply my ideas and work which I would like to share with anyone willing to look at it.
